5 DAYS RIDING IN BEAUJOLAIS
Discover by horse the secret places of the region, a mix of typical bright golden stone villages, vines and mountains. You will meet the winegrowers, taste their wines : a cultural ride into the Beaujolais.
Day 1 : 36 KM – 6h riding
After breakfast at your hotel, you will prepare the horse. You will cross the plain of Chères where it is possible to do some nice gallops through vines and fields, then the Saône valley to join the Azergue valley through the first mountains of the Golden Stones Beaujolais, accrossing the typical villages : Oingt, Thézé...
Draft horses breeders will welcome you for dinner and night in Ternand village, an old medieval city. Local dishes and friendly atmosphere.
Day 2 : 25 KM- 5h riding
We continue climbing on the crests to Mont Chatard, accrossing the Saint martin pine forest on crest paths.
From crests you will get amazing views on the Saône valley, the Croix Montmain pass, and sometimes, away, the Mont Blanc.
You will spend the night in a vineyard, in the wine growing village of Sainte Paule, where owners will have you taste their wine and local products, and visit their « cuvage » and explain us wine process.
Day 3 : 28 KM- 7h riding
You will leave behind you the villages to enter the « Green »Beaujolais, for a total immersion into the nature, inside pine forests and narrow valleys. Amazing gallops on forest paths, before going down to the valley, in the village of Quincié with its nice castle, to spend the night in a « cuvage » today renovated to let us sleep inside.
Day 4 : 26 KM – 5h riding
A nice journey on crests paths with wonderful views on the Saône valley, going through Saint Bonnet Chapel. Six kilometers gallop. You will spend the night in Caras village, next to Montmelas castle, in a cute old house on the middle of vineyards.
Day 5 : 36 KM- 6h30 riding
From crest paths to the valley, we will accross the beautiful village Ville-sur-Jarnioux and its castle, then others cute golden stones villages : Chazay d’Azergues, Charnay and Alix forest.
You will cross the valley of Chères fast with a mix of gallops and trots, then you will return to Saint-Germain-au-Mont-d’Or through the Monts d’Or mountains and the forest.
